Judith Reece - Textile Design
A little about me...
The colours, forms and textures in nature are the influences of my work. I live in North Yorkshire and am fascinated by the colours of the sea, the dramatic topography of the moors and the ever changing sky. My images have been described as enigmatic and atmospheric, as I aim to represent colour and texture in an abstract way, yet the end result hints at a recognisable form and mood.

I work from sketches and photographs, hand dyeing and printing many types of fabric and paper for every piece. These are layered, stitched and then cut, torn or burnt back to different degrees to allow the subtleties of colour to emerge.

Current work can be seen at my gallery, The Art Cafe Contemporary Gallery, in Whitby, North Yorkshire. I also work on commissioned textiles and occasionally furnishing fabrics.
